Sheldon Museum of Art will host an interdisciplinary discussion of the new book Tears and Flowers: A Poet of Migration in Old Key West, a poetry collection by Feliciano Castro (1892–1982), grandfather of Joy Castro, Willa Cather Professor in the Department of English and director of the Institute for Ethnic Studies (IES).
Published by University Press of Florida, the new book, co-edited by Castro and Rhi Johnson of Indiana University Bloomington, is a bilingual edition of the collection that was first published in 1918.
The discussion will feature Castro and Johnson with five other University of Nebraska–Lincoln faculty members: James Garza, history and ethnic studies; Katie Marya, English; Laura Muñoz, history and ethnic studies; Ingrid Robyn, modern languages and literatures and ethnic studies; and Luis Othoniel Rosa, modern languages and literatures and ethnic studies.
